They believed it! Surprising, he had expected more from a man as monstrous as Benjamin. He was rather kind about money though, and wanted to repay Kvothe back. At least, that's what Kvothe though.
"Sir, it's really alright.." He said, trailing off as Benjamin didn't even recognize his voice, still talking with his wife, Marie.
"Kvothe, what do you do for a living?" He said, turning around all of a sudden, with intent interest. This, of course, was a question Kvothe knew would come. At first glance, one might see his lute and automatically assume he was a player at some seedy pub. But if you look closer, you might notice that the lute itself was a work of art. It was touch, smooth wood, the grain all going together. It was well varnished, and the gut strings were almost always in tune. A poor man could barely afford one of the strings. Many people didn't pay attention to things like that. But even if they noticed that, they changed there minds answer when they saw the weapons.
Why would a minstrel be so heavily armored? A metal plate on his front, two swords, and two knives? It seemed almost preposterous to be carrying that amount of weaponry at all. But Kvothe did, and it always incited interest.
He decided to play it safe, and simply tell the truth.
"I'm a lute player at a local Inn called the Flute and Dragon," It was a famous inn, almost infamous if you hear the grumblings about the difficulty of getting into the place. The fact he played there was stunning in of itself. Only some of the best get to even appear to perform. More then once? Incredible.
"And about the weapons, "He said, quickly gesturing towards the now-dry chest plate, knife, and sheaths, "I'm a Knight in the Riverlands, " He said, referring to the series of valleys that were known for there lack of bandits, mostly due to the knights that constantly patrolled," and I'm a member of the Lord's men, when he needs it." He said.
The good thing about the riverlands is that not only is it a very inclusive group, but the group don't usually venture out much. This meant the chances of meeting another Knight from the riverlands almost impossible, and in such a tavern as he frequented, one in a million chance.
He reclined in his seat, while Benjamin quickly retired to the other room to help his wife.
Aiyana relaxed a bit, Kvothe noticed, and smiled at Kvothe. He winked back, smiling an ear to ear grin, and then turned back to the door, the expression he had when talking to Benjamin and Marie returning.
As they came back in, purse in there hand, Kvothe put a hand up, signaling them to stop.
"Please, I won't take money from nice people like you. Let me invite you to the Flute and Dragon, " he then gestured towards Aiyana, "Her too, to hear me play. I promise you, my playing is very good, and you'll have no better a time then there. And, better then that, " He said, pausing to build suspense, "It's all free. Won't cost you a penny. Buy what you want there, meet as many people as you want in the higher echelons of society, and I'll pay for the whole thing. My gift to you, for graciously inviting me into your home." He said.
He got up and bowed a small half-bow, and subtly turned his head so only Aiyana could see, and winked again.
Oh, he was clever.

Aiyana listened to Kvothe talk about what he did. She was a little shocked. It made sense that he would be a lute player, but at the Flute and Dragon? Incredible. Aiyana suddenly felt horrible that she was the one who cause his to spend his money on her food. Aiyana looked away slightly.
Knight? He’s a knight too? This seemed strange to Aiyana but she kept that to herself. She wasn’t entirely sure why a knight would need to be a lute player at an inn or why a lute player at the FLUTE AND DRAGON would need to be a knight.
Her masters came back in with Marie’s purse she looked a little worried, but it wasn’t too noticeable. She relaxed a little when Kvothe rejected the money. Nice people? Aiyana laughed inside. Aiyana watched as her masters’ faces lit up when Kvothe invited them to the Flute and Dragon. Of course they tried to hide it, though, even in this neighbourhood, not many have been to the Flute and Dragon.
Aiyana was shocked when Kvothe mentioned that she should come along. Her ears perked and her eyes opened wide. ”M-me too?” Not that anyone heard her.
Aiyana thought her masters had had a heart attack when the word free was mentioned. That would have been nice. Marie barely waited to thank Kvothe before she was gone from the room to find something to wear. Kvothe winked at Aiyana and she looked away, blushing a little. Is he doing this for me? Aiyana pushed that thought out of her head. She figured he was just being nice, similar to the way her masters were nice with company, not that Kvothe was mean otherwise.
Benjamin stayed a little longer the thank Kvothe properly. ”Thank you young man. You are welcome here any time.” Aiyana wasn’t sure if that was truth or just for formalities.
When her master walked past Aiyana asked, ”May I go?” Her master stared at her blankly and with an equally blank voice answered, ”If you can find something nice to wear then yes.”
Nice? I don’t think I have “nice” clothes.
Benjamin left to change and it was quiet obvious Aiyana was upset. She wondered if there was anything more “nice” than what she was wearing right now. She didn’t move, because she knew she didn’t. This is all I have… Aiyana felt like crying but she didn’t. The master knows she doesn’t have anything “nice”. He did that on purpose.
Aiyana was unsure about what to do, but not doing anything would have looked bad, so she turned to Kvothe. ”Excuse me for a few minutes.” she said as she left. She then ran down the hall to her room. She looked at her clothes but there was nothing “nice.” Everything was the same: a thin white dress (which she was wearing now), three different coloured wool dresses and an apron.
”Having trouble?” Marie asked bluntly like she knew the answer. Marie was wearing her Red Dress. It was her most formal dress and the only formal one she owned. She wore it for nearly everything, and if people noticed, they didn’t comment. It was slightly worn and a little too small for Marie, which just showed how long she’s had it. ”You can see If I have anything, if you want.” Aiyana knew this was just in case Kvothe could hear since Marie’s clothes were much too big for Aiyana, who as half her size.
”Thank you ma’am.”
Aiyana followed Marie back to the main hallway but turned the opposite direction from the door. She listened to Marie talk to Benjamin as she entered Marie’s room.
”I don’t think Aiyana has anything nice enough. I told her she could check my room, but I fear she won’t have anything.” There wasn’t much disappointment or fear in Marie’s voice. Aiyana leaned against the wall of Marie’s room and started the cry quietly.

There faces lit up as soon as 'free' was mentioned. Kvothe had answered correctly. Flute and Dragon was as prestigious as taverns came, and Marie was quite literally running to her room to find something to wear.
Benjamin stayed for a few moments though, pausing to think and then, in a thankful voice, said, ”Thank you young man. You are welcome here any time.”
This was probably just for formal purposes, but in all reality Marie and Benjamin probably just wanted to milk him for all the connections and such they could get. Like flies clinging to the back of a cow. Then again, he didn't want to be called a cow. Bad analogy. Oh, be quiet Kvothe.
Kvothe started to pack up his things, and was just putting his coat back on, when he heard Marie saying in a very obviously loud voice, that Aiyana could try one of her dresses on.
Preposterous. While Aiyana had curves, and was thin, Marie was large, from having a servant do the work all day. It was like telling a dwarf to carry a 7 foot long claymore. Couldn't be done.
He understood that Aiyana would be extremely sad, and walked towards the hall.
He heard muffled crying, and as he peeked in, he saw her leaning against a wall, crying her eyes out. He felt bad for her, as the only reason he invited them was for her.
He walked towards her, silently padding his way over, and put an arm on her shoulder, and then pulled her close.
He said, "Don't cry... There's a wonderful dress shop on the way, and I'm sure we can spend a few minutes looking at dresses." He said, hugging her.
He had his coat on, and his hair had spiked up a bit. He had his lute strung over his back.

Aiyana heard the floor creak. She knew it was Kvothe who entered the room, but natural instincts took over. Her ears twitched and she turned her head at an almost unhuman speed. She didn't get a chance to see Kvothe's face bfore she was pulled in close. "Kv-kvo-the?" She mubbled though her tears.
Dress shop? Aiyana focused on her breathing and stopped crying uncontrolibly, though tears were still running down her cheeks. Why a dress shop? Aiyana was really confused. She didn't really understand why Kvothe was mentioning a dress shop, "why are you..." but when he walked her out of the room she started to understand: he was going to see about getting her a dress.
Why? Aiyan pulled away from Kvothe and stared at him. She didn't understand at all. She wanted to know why Kvothe would buy her a dress. Sure she wanted to go to the inn but she'd never gone to these events before so she didn't see it as a big deal.
Aiyana also knew that she would stand out with her ears, tail and tattoo. Everyone would know who and what she was. No fancy dress was going to hide all of that and make her seem like any other person there.
"I don't want to go...anymore." This was a total lie and she knew Kvothe knew. Kvothe insisted and Aiyana followed him to the front door where Benjamin and Marie were waiting.
They didn't look happy to see Aiyana. Kvothe explained that Aiyana was coming along to peak at a dress shop. Marie looked at Aiyana with anger and envy. Aiyana knew that Marie would kill for a new dress but it wasn't like Aiyana was thrilled with this...well she was but she knew that that was out of place for her and so she hid it under a blank look.
Surprisingly, Aiyana's masters didn't argue with Kvothe, they even tried to make it seem like they were please Aiyana would have something "nice" but their jealousy was far too noticible. Aiyana decided to play it safe and walk behind them. Her masters kept Kvothe's attention, or at least most of it, through their constant talking and questions. Aiyana was kind of thankful, she could dissappear a little for the time being.
They were walking though a part of town unknown to Aiyana, though everyone else knew where they were going. Kvothe turned into a shop, who's windows were lined with the nicest dresses she'd ever seen. She ran up to Kvothe after he separated from her masters. "Why are you buying me a dress? I don't need it.
Aiyana quickly disappeared from Kvothe's sight. SHe wandered the store. She ended up in a seculded corner starting at what had to be her dream dress (or at least a dream dress for an Untamed slave). It was a white and blue dress with silver embrodery. Aiyana wanted it but she knew she couldn't have it. She grabbed the sleeve and held it. It felt like silk or some other expensive fabric. Aiyana sighed.

It was certainly an interesting day for Amaya. She had woken up early that morning with the knowledge that today was going to be a good day, a very good day indeed! She knew right off the bat that something good was going to happen! Of course, as he powers were waning at the moment, she couldn't tell exactly what it would be, and if the circumstances surrounding it would be good or bad (after all, sometimes good things came out of bad situations), but she did know that something was going to happen. Of course, since her powers were waning, that meant that her brother's were waxing. If she really wanted to, she could simply ask him for more details of the important events of the day. She had an inkling that it had something to do with people...? Ah well, didn't really matter! If it was horribly important, her brother would be sure to tell her, and if not? Well then she didn't want to know! Surprises were fun after all! Especially when they rarely happened. Amaya looked forward to the times when she didn't know exactly what important, unplanned, thing was going to happen. The mystery of what was coming next, it was kind of part of being mortal, so Amaya liked the times when she could feel relatively normal. Or at least as normal as one could be as a clairvoyant Elf who ran a tavern (and worked as an assassin) in a town full of humans. And while it was nice to know things like: I'm going to run into somebody important today, I should dress up, or: It's going to rain, bring a parasol, sometimes the future could be terribly depressing, like: My brother's going to be in danger today and it will happen when I'm not there to do anything about it. It was at times like those that she just had to warn the person to be careful, because she couldn't tell them exactly when and how things would happen. There was the infuriating thing. Not the fact that her powers came and went, after all, between her and her brother, they always had 100% of their powers (even if he wasn't really trained to use them well), it was the fact that although she could see the future (among other things as her powers got really strong), it was the fact that she couldn't exactly pick and choose what, or how much detail she saw. Not always anyways. So, knowing that something was going to happen, but not knowing what, Amaya got dresses and prepared for anything: She wore one of her favorite dresses, the really nice one red one with the long sleeves. The deep red fabric combined with the gold touches really set off her pale skin, and Amaya knew that the dress would hug her curves nicely and show off her form without being immodest. It was graceful and regal - what people mostly expected from Elves. Of course, she was sure to take a few daggers with her; although she would have felt safer with her bow, it was simply a lot harder to hide than the small blades. When she went downstairs to see how preparations for the day were coming, she found that her brother wasn't even awake yet! Couldn't he see what a beautiful day it was going to be? With a glance out the window, she saw that it was raining. Wonderful. Well at least she could say that it would be an interesting day. And hopefully the rain would clear up. With a small, excited smile on her face, Amaya set about preparing for the day. She had slept in a little, as she had a horrible headache the day before, so she had shut the curtains to keep the light out. The dawn hadn't woken her, and it wasn't until the cook knocked on her door to wake her up that she realized that the night had ended. "Do you happen to know where Mitsu is?" she asked the cook, as she carried a basket of fresh fruit into the kitchen for the cook to use. "I don't rightly know. He came down this morning to let me in, and then retreated back upstairs muttering something about shops and people and taverns." the cook paused to knead the dough of the bread they were making, and Amaya took the opportunity to speak. "Did he mention any specific shops or Taverns? Or a least a type of shop?" she asked. The cook shook her head. "Well I'm sure he did, but he was muttering it all, so I didn't rightly hear. He did come down a while ago and tell me to wake you up because you had something going on today and you couldn't miss it because it was veryimportant. Then he rushed out the door without even a 'goodbye' He seemed awfully preoccupied." The cook was silent for a few moments as Amaya digested the information, but then she spoke again. "What is this important thing that you can't miss Miss Amaya?" the cook asked. Amaya smiled happily. "I don't rightly know!" she admitted, "But I guess I'll find out! Be a dear for me and tighten my dress a little before I go out?" The cook glanced out the window at the rain before turning to help Amaya make sure her dress was nice and tight so that it hugged her curves. "You're going out in that?" she inquired as she did so. "I already wasted the morning away! I need to make the best of the rest of the day!" Amaya exclaimed, thanking the cook for her help and then leaving the tavern to her capable hands. "Don't forget a parasol!" The cook called after her as she left. - - - Amaya spent the majority of the afternoon wandering slowly around town, avoiding deep puddles so as not to get her shoes or dress wet. It wasn't as though she really had a problem with the water, she was an elf after all, so she was used to nature! But living in the city meant living with a different set of standards, and having to deal with the fact that some fabrics simply didn't do water well. So she walked the streets, one hand keeping her dress from dragging through the water and getting dirty, the other hand holding her parasol above her head so that she didn't get wet. She had gone out the door without styling her hair in anyway, so it simply hung freely down her back. At least she didn't really have to worry about ruining an up-do if it got wet. After spending a while in the market and getting nowhere except for a few pleasant conversations that didn't strike Amaya as terribly important (and the rain stopping), the elven woman eventually decided to head over to the dress store. While she was waiting for something to happen, she might as well look at something nice right? She was browsing around the dress shop, looking at what new styles they had in, and what colors and fabrics they had available, when she noticed a young girl in the corner, staring longingly at a beautiful blue and white dress with long sleeves that (unlike Amaya's) widened at the ends into a bell shape. The animal ears on the girl were hard to miss, marking her as an Untamed. Strange, Amaya thought, Why would an untamed be in here? There's no way she'd ever be able to buy anything. That much was obvious from the girl's clothing - she was a slave. And yet, even though Amaya had nothing to do with this girl, the elf couldn't help but feel a spark of interest. Here was this lovely young woman who never got a chance to show just how pretty she was! It was saddening! As Amaya watched the girl (while still pretending to browse nearby racks), she wondered what kind of person she was? Did she have much of a personality? It was unlikely, not many slaves did, which Amaya found very annoying. As she sized up the girl, Amaya compared her to the dress, eventually coming to the conclusion that it would look lovely on the girl. That thought in her head, she decided that the girl would have it, even if Amaya had to buy it for her! First she had to find the girl's owner and inform them though. As well as make sure that they wouldn't steal it or anything. With that thought in mind, she quickly made her way to the front of the store, hoping to find someone there. Right near the front, she saw a couple, a man and a woman. The woman was kind of plump, and was looking at the dresses longingly, as though she knew she couldn't afford them, and the man just looked anxious to be gone, although Amaya could see anger in his eyes. He was angry about something. But what? Amaya threw a glance around, hoping to see why. The only other person in the shop was a young man, who Amaya thought was familiar, but she couldn't see his face properly, so she couldn't be sure. The man was gazing in anger at him though, so they probably knew each other. Amaya knew one of them had to be the master of the girl in the back corner though, the question was, who? To be honest, it wasn't much of a question. The plumpness of the woman gave it away. Most women who couldn't afford dresses from this shop wouldn't be plump - unless they had a slave to do everything for them. It was angering really, even Amaya didn't let her employees do all the work, and she paied them for their labor! Amaya frowned, and turned away from the annoying couple, instead turning to the young man. Hopefully she was right about him having something to do with what was going on here, because at least he would be pleasant to look at (hopefully) and he was definitely a lot less likely to snap on her, or hide behind a false smile. Walking up to him, she let the frown melt off her face and replaced it with a smile. "Good day sir. I was hoping you could help me, since those two appear to be absolute annoyances." she said to the young man in a low voice, so that the couple couldn't hear, "But there's a young woman back there in sore need of a fashion check. I intend to help her out, so I hope you don't have any objections." As she looked at his face, she couldn't help but feel that she had definitely seen him before. He looked familiar but, no, he couldn't be.... What would such a talented man have to do with a couple like that? Amaya figured it had more to do with the girl than with the people who owned her. "I'm sorry, " she said politely, this time at a normal tone, as she dropped into a curtsy, "I seem to have forgotten my manners. My name is Amaya Matsumoto, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Mr..." she paused and smiled up at the man as she stood to her full height (although she still had to look up to meet his eyes), "I do apologize. You look familiar, have we met perhaps?"|{OOC: has permission~ also, pic of dress in link}|

Kvothe quickly brushed past any signs of her arguing against his plan, he simply packed up his things, and they left. Benjamin and Marie looked peeved as they entered the store, since they probably couldn't afford anything here at all. The fact they could afford the board, food, and clothing for a slave was curious. They must've given an arm and a leg to have her. He assumed she was a sex slave to Benjamin when he first saw her, honestly, because she was extremly attractive, yet at the same time, looked shy from any external (bar her masters) contact. It pitiful. She said something about her not wanting a dress, or not needing one, but almost immediately after seeing some of the dresses, she disappeared into the store, before Kvothe could really respond. She seemed to absolutely love the fabric and styles, and a few caught her eye. Kvothe didn't want to disturb her, instead, watched from afar. He saw her choose a simple, yet elegant dress, which would show off her body, if she ever wore it. The dress was blue, and white, and was laced. It was beautiful. Walking up to Kvothe, was a woman who had just walked into the store. "Good day sir. I was hoping you could help me, since those two appear to be absolute annoyances," she said to Kvothe in a almost conspiratorial voice, "But there's a young woman back there in sore need of a fashion check. I intend to help her out, so I hope you don't have any objections." Kvothe would've been happy for a spark of recognition, but it looked like noth- Hold on, it looked as if her body language changed a bit. Instead of the bored, polite look of some who thought she was better then those around her, she changed her pose, and gave a more flattering eye towards him. She also had just about the best pair of breasts Kvothe had ever set eyes on. "I'm sorry, " she said politely, this time at a normal tone, as she dropped into a curtsy, "I seem to have forgotten my manners. My name is Amaya Matsumoto, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Mr..." she paused and smiled up at the man as she stood to her full height, which was still rather short, and still giving Kvothe an excellent view, "I do apologize. You look familiar, have we met perhaps?" He gave a little chuckle, one deep from the throat, not forced, but one from actual amusement. "First, " He said, pointing towards the girl, "That is the girl i'm escorting towards the Flute and Dragon." "Second," He said with a smile, "My name is Kvothe Valerian, one of the best players of the lute in all the islands, and I am just on my way to play at the Flute and Dragon," He said, pausing, and looking her over with an almost lustful, yet pleased, look, "and I would be delighted to have the acquaintance of someone so beautiful." He ended that sentence with a small bow, and a kiss on her hand. He smiled as he got up, glancing over towards Aiyana. "Excuse me." He walked towards her, coming from behind, he looked over her shoulder, into the mirror. "It looks lovely on you. If you'd like it, you can have it." He said, "I've already paid the price for it. You can put it on right now, and leave with me, as my escort for the night." He said, cocking his head a bit, making it a question. He liked the other woman in the store, intensely so, but even if this untamed woman had no attraction to him, he would like to try. She was beautiful, and his money could not only buy her for himself, but give her a full life, a life that she had wished for since she was a little girl. But if she continued to show signs that she wasn't interested in him romantically at all, he'd just sell her off to a pair of people who were nice, leaving her to be a slave forever, instead of benefiting from being with him. He scowled at the thought, a bit, and knew that she had probably thought something similar. He turned back to the other one, Amaya was her name, and smiled at her. She did, indeed, have the best pair of breasts Kvothe had ever laid his eyes on, and he'd like to get closer. (OOC: First, this best pair of breasts thing is a reference to something, (Other then Kvothe's lust, yes) but seriously, Amaya's very attractive, though I think she might go the slow route. WHY ARE YOU WOMEN SO MEAN. ALL I WANT IS SEX. )

Kvothe surprised Aiyana when he cam up from behind her. She hadn’t noticed him approach, which was strange on her part. He eld the dress out in front of her, so she could see her reflection. For a split sceond she tensed, feeling boxed in, with Kvothe's arms on either side of her, but the feeling was gone the next second. Aiyana barely looked at the dress in the mirror, she truned her head to look at Kvothe instead. "Kvothe...?" She whispered surprised.
She listened to him tell her about the dress and she couldn't help but look. It really looks nice on me? Aiyana had hoped it would, and, despite her efforts, it did show on her face. She looked back at Kvothe but not directly.
”Escort?” Aiyana wasn’t sure what Kvothe meant by escort…she had heard the word before but had no idea of it’s meaning. She looked back at herself in the mirror. Do I really look that nice? Aiyana was entirely sure about what “nice” or “lovely” would look like on her. Kvothe said this was "lovely". Aiyana smiled a little. I like "lovely". Aiyana decided smiling at her reflection.
”What about…” Aiyana stopped herself. She was confused about Kvothe’s choice of words. They made it seem like they were going to leave her masters behind, not that Aiyana had a problem with that, though it was probably a misinterpretation on Aiyana’s part.
Aiyana sensed someone approach, she knew it wasn’t one of her masters. She quickly turned around looking at the girl behind Kvothe. The girl looked only a few years younger then Kvothe, with long dark hair and pale skin. She was very beautiful, more beautiful than Aiyana felt she could ever be. Then Aiyana's other senses kicked in. An elf. Aiyana started to panic inside. What…should…I…I…ummm….gah! She knew that this wasn’t the place for an untamed like her and a dress like this was certainly not for a slave. She looked away from the girl, not even looking at Kvothe.
”I…I…I’m going….going to try…this on…” Aiyana stuttered before running from Kvothe and the girl. She weaved her way to the back of the store, avoiding her masters. ”I would…umm…” she started talking to the shopkeeper. Without even looking at her he pointed to a door behind Aiyana. Aiyana figured he didn’t want to interact with her. Aiyana ducked into the room, closed and locked the door then sank to the ground.
That girl…she didn’t look mean. Aiyana sat there thinking. The elf looked happily at Aiyana, not like elves normally do. Why is everyone acting so strange today? A human was paying her a fair amount of attention; her masters didn't seem to have any bad intentions against her and an elf was just genuinely smiling at her. Aiyana didn’t know what to make of the anyone she had encountered.
Aiyana stood up and looked at the dress. Kvothe had said he’d already paid so Aiyana felt obliged to at least try it on. She slipped out of her white dress and into the blue dress. Kvothe was right. The dress looked lovely on her. Aiyana smiled. She felt more like a princess than she had ever in her life. Aiyana span in a circle watching the dress flare out and giggling quietly. She reallly liked this dress.
Aiyana noticed her ears and pushed them against her head. Without the ears, Aiyana felt that she looked liked any other girl from this neighbourhood, but with the ears…Aiyana didn’t think she fit in at all.
Kvothe is being really nice in buying this…but I don’t think I can take it.

Amaya smiled in a decidedly flirtatious manner when the man introduced himself and explained who he was. "Ah!" she exclaimed in recognition, "Mr. Valerian, the Lute player! Of course! How could I not recognize you?" She listened politely as Kvothe explained why he was in the dress shop - as really, it wasn't exactly the place you'd expect to find a lute player at all - and nodded. "What a coincidence it is then, although it's good to see that the young woman has at least one friend who knows how to treat a lady, yes?" she commented.
She nodded to Kvothe when he kissed her hand, and a slight flush rose to her cheeks, although it quickly disappeared. "The Flute and Dragon? Yes, I am familiar with it, I have been there a couple of times when I have a spare moment." she told him, gracing him with a genuine smile, her eyes sparkling. She watched with a silent sigh as he walked over to attend to the untamed girl, almost disappointed that his attention was so fleeting. She couldn't say that she was infatuated by the man, at least not yet, but he certainly was very charming, and handsome to boot. She wondered if it would be possible to get him to play at the cafe, it would bring in customers, that was for sure. It would probably be expensive, although.... there were always ways to get a deduction after all...
Hadn't there been something Mitsu had said about the Lute player....? Ah well, it didn't really matter, he was charming and sweet, and.... She sighed again; it would never work out, her brother would never allow it. Even though they didn't live in the Elven kingdom anymore, Mitsu was still very adamant about upholding the bloodline, especially since it was likely that his wife and son were dead, although Amaya got the feeling that they weren't. If that were so, why hadn't they found them then? There were so many unanswered questions that had been left unanswered so long, Amaya wasn't sure the answer was still out there.
Shaking the matter of her ugly past from her mind, she followed after Kvothe, walking up behind the young untamed. She refused to be past negative oriented! Always better to look to the future, especially considered that she had an extra glance into what it contained.
The untamed must have heard her approach, as she turned around to face her. Amaya smiled at her, but before she could say anything, the girl turned away and then ran off to the dressing room. Amaya's face fell a bit. She was simply being nice, why did the girl seem scared of her? It was certainly not something she had expected, although neither was the fact that the important person she would run into was an untamed. As soon as Amaya had seen the girl, she had known that she was the important person, and now she was determined not to lose her; after all, she didn't even know why she was important!
It certainly was a bonus to run into Kvothe though. Yes, today was a good day.
Walking up to Kvothe, she caught his smile and returned it with one of her own. "Well Mr. Valerian, it seems to me that you already have a companion for the night," she pointed out politely, "Or were you looking for two?"

OOC: And now... The Return! He focused back on Amaya, who gave him a certain, 'enjoyable' look. He blushed a bit, and smiled again. Recognition played in her eye, and she seemed to know who he was. That was, good, he supposed. "What a coincidence it is then, although it's good to see that the young woman has at least one friend who knows how to treat a lady, yes?" she commented. "Thank you, your far too kind," He said, laughing. He paused, excused himself, and went towards Aiyana. He didn't mean to be rude to the other girl, he just had to make sure Aiyana didn't feel scared or too shy to ask for something here. He really just wanted to look out for her. Kvothe saw Aiyana blush, and he smiled a bit, the side of his mouth curling up slightly. "By escort I just mean you should come as my.....uh...." He said, mentally flailing for a moment, at a loss for words, "Partner. Yea, partner." He smiled again. "Which means we can spend most of the night away from your masters," He continued, gesturing over towards Benjamin and his wife, who seemed to be very interested in a pair of felt gloves, "who will most likely be drunk out of there minds within minutes." He smiled again, chuckling and the joke. He heard Amaya walking towards them, and he looked towards her. Aiyana seemed to mumble a few words about trying the dress on, and then sped off, almost running, towards the dressing room. "Well Mr. Valerian, it seems to me that you already have a companion for the night," she pointed out politely, "Or were you looking for two?" "Ah, " He said, "The dream of any man." He continued, chuckling. "I'm bringing her there as my partner. I feel bad for putting her through all this, and I should at least treat someone with her kind of life to at least one night where she feels like she's not a slave. Though you are welcome to join us. I have in mind dinner, playing a song or two, a few drinks, that's about it. Nothing too fancy." He said, smiling at the last part. 'Nothing too fancy' was about as far from the Flute and Dragon as anything. "We should probably be heading out now, actually, since Aiyana has found a dress that she feels she looks good in. Of course you, on the other hand, seem to already have that down." He said, smiling a bit at the flirtatious comment. He walked towards the dressing room, and knocked a few times, saying, "Aiyana, we should get going now. " (OOC: Yes, I know this post is subpar. Then again, it might very well be average par as to what I write. I'm not very good with analyzation. Anyways, your two posts confused the fuck out of me, so I may have gotten the order of things out of place. If I have done this, please just tell me and I'll edit it around. Aiyana tried to imagine herself at any place where the dress would be appropriate but she couldn’t. She had no idea what to think of. She took her hands off her head and her ears unfolded. I have to give this back to Kvothe. I can’t have it. She stared at her reflection once more. She wanted to remember how she looked.
Aiyana finally sighed and started to take the dress off. There was a knock on the door and Aiyana’s nerves jumped. Within seconds, she had the dress back on and dropped to the ground. She breathed heavily for a moment. Something’s wrong. Something is very wrong. She heard Kvothe’s voice, but couldn’t make it out. It’s just Kvothe. Nothing is wrong Aiyana. It’s okay. Aiyana rose she stared at the door. Trying to guess what Kvothe had said. Aiyana decided that he wanted to see her in the dress. After all, maybe it wouldn’t have fit nicely.
Aiyana rose reached for the door and saw her hands shaking. Maybe something is wrong…no. no. It’s nothing. Aiyana shook her head and tried to ignore her instincts. She opened the door. Kvothe was standing right there but she didn’t look at him. With the blankest look, she scanned the store. Why…do I feel like something is wrong? There was no one new in the shop and the shopkeeper had disappeared. Aiyana’s masters were caught up in their own little world, so it wasn’t them. Aiyana’s eyes passed over the elf. Even with the faint glance, Aiyana knew the elf was watching and maybe even smiling.
Aiyana didn't look back at the elf; it would be rude and out of place. Why is she staring? Aiyana tried to keep her blank look; she needed to remain calm. Aiyana hadn’t felt this much emotion in one day in years. Maybe it’s the elf? She looked at Kvothe.
“Is-is it okay?” Aiyana realised that was a stupid question. Kvothe was sure to say yes. “I-I-I like…it. But…are you sure…you want to buy it…for me?” Aiyana tried to focus on Kvothe, but the elf was dominating the attention, even without looking like it.
“Umm…” Aiyana wanted to ask about the elf, but she had a hard time forming the words. “Umm…” she said really quietly, “who…is that elf?” {OOC} Welcome back. My post isn't good either, cause i haven't RP in a while, so don't worry. Alysse! Save us from this trap with you amazingly long posts!

Post by Amaya E Morningstar Matsumoto on Aug 13, 2012 0:07:50 GMT -5
Amaya almost let out a girlish giggle when she caught Kvothe blushing, almost. She managed to hold it in, after all, that would make her appear undignified, and, if her upbringing as an elf had taught her anything, it was that it never did to appear undignified. Never. 'A lady is always dignified, even if she cannot always be polite.' Her mother used to say that like it was going out of style. Amaya would hear it at least three or four times everyday. Before her mother had been murdered of course. So, in order to stay as dignified as possible, she allowed only a brief flutter of her eyelashes in return, although it was brief enough that it would be hard to catch.
Amaya hadn't followed after Kvothe when he had gone over to speak with the untamed girl immediately, it would be rude for one thing, and would appear desperate and clingy for another. Of course, he elf hearing meant that she couldn't help but pick up his stuttered conversation with the girl. Raising a hand to her mouth, she had to hide the smile that was growing as she chuckled silently and waited for the girl to respond, after all, if it had been Amaya in that situation, she would be very suspicious of any man that offered to be her 'escort' and keep her away from her masters, no matter how nice he seemed to be, and how horrible her masters were. But then again, Amaya had never been in any such situation - although she had met many sorts of men over the years - and she didn't really know what this untamed girl had gone through (that and Amaya was an elf) so she supposed she couldn't quite say anything.
As she walked over to them, she made a decision. She would accompany this group to the Flute and Dragon, even if she ended up going on her own, just to make sure that nothing horrible happened to this untamed girl who acted so timid and innocent (really, what kind of way was that to act? How was one supposed to get by in the world like that? Such an attitude was just asking for trouble; the girl had to have some sort of personality hiding behind that!) After all, if the girl was as important - for who knows what reason - as Amaya suspected, then it made sense to keep her safe.
At Kvothe's comment, she did allow herself a slight chuckle. "I have met many a young man who was perfectly happy with having only one companion for the night. Or at least only one companion not related to him." she pointed out, not mentioning the fact that most of these young men (many of whom were older now) were usually madly in love or married. She supposed it made sense for any single man not in a relationship to want to have a selection - to a man at least. She herself wasn't quite sure? After all, why should one want to have two women to have to please and keep their attention and prevent it from wandering elsewhere? That sounded like a potentially expensive, potentially dangerous venture. It wasn't like it was with her, for a single woman, it could be very flattering to have more than one man paying you their attentions, provided they weren't coming on too strong, or not taking any hints that you weren't enjoying their affections.
When Kvothe explained his reasoning, Amaya gave a slight nod, and then tilted her head quizzically in curiosity. An incident? It was a times like these when Amaya really hated the waning of her powers. This was something she should just know or at the very least have a very good idea about. As it was, she could just sense something about the untamed getting in trouble? Amaya's view of past event she had not actually witnessed wasn't really as good as her view of the future, even more so that her powers were waning. "I see," she replied, "Well that's certainly very kind of you, I don't think very many people would do anything for a slave, let alone take her to someplace as fancy as the Flute and Dragon." She paused for a moment, trying to gauge his possible reaction to his next statement, and then continued, "I apologize if this seems like prying, but you've piqued my interest, what is it exactly that you put her through?"
At his invitation for him to join them, she nodded. "If you are serious about your invitation, I think I shall." she paused then, looking over at where the change rooms were, "Although we should probably ask your young friend, I don't think she took too well to me."
Amaya smiled graciously at his compliment and nodded. "Why thank you sir." she stated, "It's one of my favorites. A friend made it for me." she left it at that, it wouldn't do to let Kvothe know that her friend was actually her missing sister-in-law, that would lead to too many questions about her past questions that - despite the charming gentleman Kvothe appeared to be - would simply not do to be asked.
When Kvothe went to go get the untamed girl, Amaya stayed a respectful distance back, knowing that the girl appeared to be rather nervous of her. With a smile, she watched as the girl emerged from the change room wearing the dress. It was simply gorgeous on her! She couldn't help but notice that the girl avoided looking at her or meeting her eyes - the poor skittish thing.
When the girl asked about her (although it was very quiet) Amaya debated briefly over displaying her elven hearing, or pretending otherwise. Eventually, she decided to approach, although she was sure not to get too close. "I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself, have I?" she stated, offering the girl a friendly smile, "My name is Amaya Matsumoto, I run a small café in town. I was just doing some shopping and I couldn't help but notice what a lovely child you are. Do you mind if I ask your name?"

"A young man happy with only one companion for the night?" Kvothe said, chuckling, "Scandalous."
He liked this woman, even if he had only recently met her.
"I've never been one to be unkind to a person, even if they are a slave," Kvothe answered to her comment, " And the Flute and Dragon is just the sort of place for a slave to be. Slaves don't usually get to go to someplace so fancy. An since I'm an evil lusty young man, I'm just doing it to get her out of her pants, of course." He continued, smirking at the end. She seemed to be older then her young early-twenty year old face looked. Pehaps she wasn't human? Or just older. The latter was more likely. An attractive 30 year old seemed infinitely more likely, especially in the capital
"It's not prying, don't worry. All I really did was spill her fruit, but she started sobbing about how her master was going to beat her, etc. etc. etc., and I felt terrible, so I came back here, and I'm treating them and there slave to the flute and Dragon. Now that I think about it I may have overcompensated them. Then again, I met you, which would be worth just about anything." He said, doing a playful squeeze of her arm, and smiling.
"I hope you do join us," he said, glad that she wante to come, "A pretty girl like you is always needed at the Inn. And Aiyana will be fine, she looks pretty in a dress, and will come anyways, no matter what. I think she feels, almost indebted to me."
"A friend? I think all of us wish for such a friend, who can make us look good in anything they make." Some friend. Her friends must all be upper class weavers for her to get a dress like that.
As he was at the door of Aiyana's changing room, he heard some shuffling, and then the door opened. She looked phenomenal. The dress was absolutely fantastic, and seemed to cling to every curve she had. He was attracted to her before, but she just looked beautiful, simple as that. Two beautiful women, and he had a shot with them? The day was definetly turning out well.
He listened to her complaints with a slight smile, and simply waved his hand, and said, "No. I insist. You look gorgeous in that dress, and I will not suffer a beautiful girl without a beautiful dress. "
He was going to continue on, when she looked over to the other girl again, Amaya. It seemed Aiyana was almost ready to get into a fight with her, or to wet herself and go back into the changing room. There was obviously something going on that he didn't know about, and he confusedly looked back and forth between them for a few seconds, until Amaya broke the silence, saying something that from his perspective, seemed almost condescending. The words 'What a lovely child you are' didn't help her case, he was sure of that.
"Well," He said, confused and agitated, "I'm going to go outside and I'll see you two out there."
He backed off, and then turned, smoothly walking away. He just wanted to get out of the middle of whatever the hell was going on between them, and he did so by going outside, and breathing in the cool night air. He got a look from Benjamin and his wife, but they quickly resumed browsing and perusing the overpriced wares, waiting for the two girls in the back to come up to the front of the store.
He tightened the coat around his shoulders, and began slowly pacing in front of the store.

Aiyana missed what Kvothe said, all of her senses had been focused on the elf. She figured that he complimented her, based on how strange this day has been, but she knew she couldn’t be sure. Ah, what do I do? Aiyana gave Kvothe a small smile. “Thank you…Kvothe.” Aiyana tugged her dress slightly. IT felt weird to her, to be wearing high-end materials. “This is a dream come true.” Aiyana whispered to herself. A Dream! This is all a dream. Suddenly the day’s events seemed to make more sense. Aiyana knew there would be no other reason for high-class citizens to talk to her, to pay any attention to her. And her masters seemed to be acting completely different from normal. This was something she created in her head. Aiyana’s expression darkened slightly. If this is a dream, at some point I am going to have to wake up. This wouldn’t be the first time Aiyana has had dreams like this, but this one seemed so real, she could swear it was real. I wish I never have to wake up. Aiyana sensed the elf walk towards her and Kvothe. Aiyana wondered if the elf had heard her ask about her. Aiyana didn’t have much of a choice but to look at her now. She noticed the elf was keeping her distance but in a strange way. Usually people avoided Aiyana because she was an Untamed, but this elf, this girl, was keeping her distance, almost out of respect. And she’s smiling? Aiyana shifted slightly, pulling in on herself a little. Weird human, Aiyana quickly glanced at Kvothe, and a weird elf, and back at the elf. “Definitely a dream.” Aiyana whispered again. The elf introduced herself. Aiyana kept her nervous and suspicious expression. A lovely child you are? She’s teasing me, playing with me. Why? Kvothe had said the exact same thing but the Amaya had said it in THE tone Aiyana despised: that I-am-better-than-you tone. Aiyana wasn’t sure if she was about to cry or get angry. If it was a dream she could, but she couldn’t bring herself to do anything. Amaya asked Aiyana for her name. She didn’t say anything. Not a word came from Aiyana’s mouth. Kvothe excused himself. He sounded angry to Aiyana. She was suddenly worried she had done something wrong. Kvothe walked away before Aiyana could say anything. Aiyana recognized the movements that Kvothe made: the slow backing up, the turn without looking back. He was almost running away. Aiyana wished she could do that too. She wished Kvothe would come back and help her. Aiyana then remembered that she hadn’t answered Amaya’s question. GAH! “I’m so-sorry, Miss Matsumoto. I – my name is Aiyana.” Aiyana bowed but she didn’t know what to do next. Should-should I try and talk? “Um…” Aiyana felt herself shaking a little. Talking to Amaya seemed much harder than talking to Kvothe. “You…said…you were out…shopping. Is – is there anything you… will need help with?” Aiyana felt herself panicking. ”If not…than I shall stay out of your way.” Please come back Kvothe. I can’t do this. {OOC} This one isn't good either. I'm sorry. I will try harder next time.

"Perhaps not so when you think of the situation they're in. There are occasions when it would be considered Scandalous for a man to have more than one companion." she paused here, a teasing smile floating on her face, "Of course, this would not be one of them, as far as I can see."
Amaya couldn't help but raise a slender eye-brow in question at Kvothe's response to her statement. She supposed it could have just been the way he phrased it, but it almost sounded defensive. "I was not saying that you would, just that it's not exactly the common practice." She shook her head at what he said next, or to be more accurate, the last part of it, preferring not to comment. She could tell that he was attracted to her though, she had been around long enough to get used to how humans expressed it - and the art of flirting - after all. That and even at their weakest, her powers weren't completely useless, she could sense romantic intent in the future.
She listened patiently to Kvothe's explanation of how he had encountered the young untamed, nodding with understanding. She must have just missed them earlier then. Ah well, she figured this is how it was supposed to happen. She couldn't help but agree that Kvothe had overcompensated the masters, but he couldn't exactly invite their slave and not them. "The world works in mysterious ways, does it not?" she replied with a smile.
Amaya shook her head slightly. "I don't think it's an issue of her going, it's an issue of her wanting me to come." she paused, offering him a knowing smile, "After all, you did invite her first, and if there's anything you should know about entertaining more than one woman, it's that one of the biggest faux pas is to entertain two women who do not get along."
Her smile at his comment about her friend was almost woeful. "Yes, well, her mother taught her to weave as a young child, so she's had a lot of practice." she said after a moment, choosing her words so that it would sound as though she was still alive.
She couldn't help but frown as Kvothe retreated outside. While she appreciated him standing aside, she couldn't help but feel as though he was avoiding the situation. Not much she could do about it though, instead waiting patiently for the untamed girl to introduce herself. Of course, she already knew the girl's name - Kvothe had said it several times - but Amaya figured it would be more comfortable for the girl if she asked for her name, instead of coming up already knowing it. A stranger knowing one's name could easily make one uncomfortable. As she waited though, and the girl still said nothing, a light frown came upon her face. Had she done something wrong?
Finally there was a response, and a bright smile came to Amaya's face. "Please, call me Amaya." she insisted, "Miss Matsumoto sounds much too formal." she paused, considering her next words, not wanting to say something that would make the girl uncomfortable. "Do you have a last name Aiyana? Or would you just prefer to be addressed by your first name." Amaya like to know people's full names, and besides, she doubted Aiyana had been addressed by her full name in a long time.
At Aiyana's question, a decidedly perplexed look passed over Amaya's face. She understood that the girl was only acting on what she was used to, but still... "Of course not!" she said, trying to keep her tone soft, "If I needed someone to carry something for me, I would have dragged my brother along."
It was plainly obvious that Aiyana wasn't comfortable with her. Was it because she was an elf? It was a pity though, this young woman who could be so much, and here she was, a trembling nervous wreck because of the two people who called themselves her 'masters.'
"It's quite alright, you don't have to stay out of my way, in fact, I want to talk to you." she paused, trying to gauge how Aiyana would react, "I too am on my way to the Flute and Dragon, and Kvothe invited my to join your party - it is an awful shame to drink alone you know - but I wanted to make sure you were okay with it, after all, it would be rude of me if you were not."

Kvothe had been outside for a few minutes. His entire adventures outside had been walking from point A to point B, which, now that he thought about it, seemed to be punishment for his stupidity in leaving the shop, for the two of them to talk. They seemed to be on almost hostile terms, or maybe Aiyana was just surprisingly shy around other people? Kvothe couldn't detect anything particularly odd about the new girl, or anything that might cause a slave to be scared, or reserved.
He shurgged, and then sat himself down on a bench, outside the window. He glanced briefly inside, to see Benjamin and his wife done with there perusal, and looking almost bored. The two girls were able to be seen through a few of the racks of clothing, still talking. He was going to be late if they didn't get a move on. As awkward as it'd be, he had to go back inside. How stupid of him to leave.
He entered the shop, the bell ringing again. The slavemasters didn't even look his way, still bored.
Kvothe continued down the small shop, encountering the two of them in discussion.
"...rude of me if you were not."
"Hello." He said, "I had to go outside, to, uh, get some air. We're going to be late if we don't start walking now, so we should get a move on, okay?"
He tried to move his hands, accentuating his position, pointing towards the door, "After you two."
